Ane Alfeiran

Born and raised in Mexico City, Ane discovered her passion for art at a very young age. Influenced by her mother, an artist by profession, who taught her various techniques for drawing, painting and ceramics and also instilled the importance of art in day to day life. Ane uses a range of materials to create her works, including small sketches in pen, acrylic on canvas, spray paint and has recently started experimenting with digital printing on metal. She is a self-taught artist that believes art should be for everyone and without justification or boundaries. Inspired by emotions, music and facets of everyday life, Ane paints mostly from imagination or memory and experiments with colour in a neo-expressionist and cubistic way to create paintings which depict human emotions in an original and abstract way. In a relatively short period of time, Ane has accomplished remarkable achievements for a self-taught and self-representing artist. Selling her original acrylic art and digital metal printings via channels that those in the art world may deem unconventional.

What motivates you to be an artist?

I create art because I feel an instinctive need to do so. I possess a deep desire to express my emotions and thoughts through art. I feel there is no better way to express myself or comment, process and describe life than through art.

Why is art important to you?

It is a free expression of the human mind and emotions. It can make people feel a spectrum of emotions and profoundly reflect on their values and ideas, it is a tangible medium that gives us an insight into our lives as human beings. Art can cross all races, ages, genders, classes and have a different meaning or significance to each and every person.
